Photo Contest Rules and Regulations

Contest closes June 28th, 2013. Must be a Canadian and US resident (excluding Puerto Rico) over the age of majority in their province, territory or state of residence to enter. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. Mathematical skill testing question to be correctly answered to win. No purchase necessary. The entered photo must, obviously, be of a cat or kitten. There is one Grand Prize available to be won, which consists of your cat's photo on the cover of the Fall/Winter 2013 issue of moderncat magazine, which has an intrinsic value to the winner, plus a photo shoot, at a date and time to be arranged, but taking place within two weeks of the contest close. The photo shoot will be set up as close as possible to where the winner resides; any travel costs associated with getting to the photo shoot are the responsibility of the winner. The winner’s failure/inability to make his/her cat available for the photo shoot within the specified time period constitutes refusal of the Grand Prize, in which case an alternate cat will be chosen to appear on the cover at moderncat’s discretion. ©2013 Modern Cat Inc

Rules and Regulations

The cat receiving the most votes in moderncat’s Cover Cat competition will appear on the cover of the Fall/Winter 2013 issue of moderncat magazine and will take part in a photo shoot orchestrated by moderncat. A photo resulting from this shoot (or a subsequent photo shoot if retakes are deemed necessary by moderncat) will be selected at moderncat’s sole discretion to appear on the cover of moderncat. Additional photos from the shoot may appear within the magazine and on moderncat.com. All photos will be chosen solely at moderncat’s discretion. Please note that we will endeavour to have the photo shoot take place as close as possible to the winner’s location, but some travel on the part of the winner may be necessary, and will be undertaken at the winner’s expense. The contest closes at 12 pm PST, June 28, 2013. The winner must be available to take part in a photo shoot within two weeks of this date.

You may enter as many photos as you like (the entered photo must, obviously, be of a cat or kitten) and are encouraged to promote voting for your cat through various streams, including word of mouth, email, blogging, and social networking (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ etc.) You can vote for each cat once every 12 hours. Show your support of your favourite cats by sharing their photo entries through social media. Votes made from computers on a shared Internet connection are counted as a single vote (i.e one vote per office). To be considered a legitimate vote, a voter must visit the photo contest page of the entered cat on ModernCat.com and click on the vote button; therefore, votes exceeding pageviews will not be considered legitimate votes. Falsified votes will be adjusted accordingly or the entry will be disqualified and removed from the contest altogether at moderncat’s discretion. All photos entered in the photo contest regardless of number of votes have a chance to appear in moderncat magazine. Photo selection for inclusion in the magazine is solely at the discretion of moderncat. Moderncat reserves the right to verify, in its sole judgment, winner eligibility. Anyone cheating will be disqualified. Moderncat reserves the right to change these contest rules at any time. Inappropriate photos and comments will be deleted. Good luck! 

Assignment of Rights

By submitting photographic images to moderncat (operating as Modern Cat Inc), you grant moderncat (as well as Modern Dog, operating as Modern Dog Inc) a perpetual, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, and otherwise exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to those photographic images at its sole discretion, including storing it on moderncat servers and incorporating it in other works in any media now known or later developed including, without limitation, published books. If you do not wish to grant moderncat these rights, it is suggested that you do not submit photographic images. Moderncat reserves the right to select, edit, and arrange submissions, and to remove images from the moderncat website at any time at its sole discretion.
